Jazz Musician

the early morning starts with waking
(the night could always take it longer)
before espresso he is shaking,
with every morning this gets stronger

the night before was spent with passion -
the notes, the pauses and the writing
the music's never a profession:
too underpaid and too exciting

the early noon will bring rehearsal
(one happy band and five espressos)
the jazz is pretty universal -
it somehow teaches him a lesson

to always love becoming better,
to never stop remaining gentle.
jazz is his own demanding mentor
who tells to stay experimental

the noon for coffee and some teaching
(because what else will bring him wages)
he'll save his time for little preaching,
don't try his name on yellow pages

then get prepared for the evening,
the listeners come to clap on second,
they'll pay attention to the meaning,
reviewed, appreciated, reckoned...

the early morning starts with waking
(the night was late, espresso waiting)
it might be coffee that is making
the jazz musician fascinating
